Round dancing can be described as choreographed ballroom dancing for couples, who progress round the floor (in an anti-clockwise direction) dancing to cues.

It looks similar to sequence dancing, except that the cuer calls out the individual dance steps. This provides greater variety without dancers needing to learn the details of each dance. 

At the easiest phase (level) only Waltz and Two Step are done, but at the higher phases Foxtrot, Jive, Rumba, Cha Cha, Bolero, Paso Doble, Tango, Single Swing and other rhythms are added, accompanied by interesting, varied and lively music.

An evening may have 30 different dances offering fun and an enjoyable challenge to all.

Rounds dancing is closely associated with square dancing because at many square dances, the promoting club will alternate squares with rounds. That is why Round dancing falls under the BAASDC banner.
